First fieldtrip - Kampung Sementa, Klang - Mangrove forest
On 7 April 2012, I went on a fieldtrip with colleague Dr. Sasekumar to costal mangrove forest close to Kampung Sementa, Klang, about 45 minutes northwest of Kuala Lumpur. We were in the field between ~10:30am and 2pm.
We observed a few butterflies and collected 15 specimens from ~10 species, along with some specimens of Odonata. Details to be confirmed later.
Regional checklists
I have attached here checklists of butterflies from areas of
Peninsula Malaysia, and one from Peninsula Thailand, that may be useful
in tracking down species for my barcoding checklist.
1) Khao Chong, Thailand. Where a malaysian species has been barcoded, it often was part of this study by Basset et al. (2012).
2) Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia. Chia et al. (2011). These specimens are in the UMKL collection.
3) Tioman Island, Malaysia. Quek et al. (1999).
Latest barcoded checklist
Still need to complete the Nymphalidae and Lycaenidae. I am wondering if I should organise the scratchpad by species rather than subspecies. The species/subspecies distinction ceratinly need clarification in this group.
